The Genedata Biologics core development team creates and maintains our Genedata Biologics and Genedata Bioprocess products which are widely used in pharmaceutical and biotech research and development.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape and promote these successful products. You will be working in a strong, agile, international team with the focus on delivering software that makes a difference. Youll be working closely together with our excellent product management and scientific teams.

As a member of the core development team, you will be wearing all the hats: Design REST APIs to feed our SPA, help users by developing new features, save someones day by fixing a bug. Maybe change someones life by understanding their problem and at last providing a solution that works. Youll optimize database queries and the performance of Java code to make our software a pleasure to work with. Youll save everyone a lot of trouble by heavily testing critical code. Youll help your fellow developers by automating common tasks and by exploring and introducing new technologies and tools.

Continuous progress in the industry means that our products evolve constantly, and many new features are added with every release. This requires a solid software architecture and a good deal of engineering craftsmanship. Best software development practices such as Clean Code are therefore not only buzzwords for us but key factors for our long-term success.

We are following a modern agile development approach with regular stand-up, planning, review and retrospective meetings. We use feature branches, continuous integration, code reviews and pair programming. We offer regular technical and scientific seminars.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Design, implement, test and maintain the Java/Oracle-based backend of our software
• Play an active role in the Scrum process
• Document and communicate your work to your colleagues and other stakeholders
• Develop your skills further continuously

The essential requirements of the job include:

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in computer science, or related fields, with 3+ years of professional software development experience
• Expert knowledge of Java (Java 17) or C#
• Deep understanding of OO programming principles and commitment to clean, efficient, well documented code
• Experience with unit testing and Test-Driven Development
• Experience with relevant Java APIs: JAX-RS, JPA/Hibernate, Java Streams as well as SQL
